Wine Making Process

Algodon Wine Estates firmly believes that it is only possible to produce a superior wine when you have a superior grape. Though our newer vines are no less than a decade old, our most mature vines were planted in 1946 and produce grapes of incredible quality. The estate has over 325 acres (132 ha) of vineyards, both old and new. Yet even amongst these, only specially selected vines can provide our winery with the best quality grapes for our annual harvest.

Our careful quality control begins with the grapes and continues throughout the entire winemaking process. We have designed our winery for the exclusive purpose of making world-class wines in limited quantities. This ensures our ability to implement all the care and attention necessary to obtain optimum results and the best product possible.

Our vineyard harvest begins the last week of February and ends around the last week of April, depending on the varietal and its desired maturity. All of our grapes are harvested by hand, and the resultant wine is left to mature in French and American Oak barrels. All crops within the estate are grown using organic and biodynamic agricultural methods, and demonstrate our vision of quality and purity intended for our vintages. But it is more than just acquiring the best raw material, as our master winemakers continue to prove as we faithfully produce wines in accordance with our own impeccably high standards and tastes.
