Diamante River
Originating from a glacial lagoon of the same name on the Maipo (a volcano in the Andes mountain range), the Diamante River flows through San Rafael and is another major tourist attraction. It boasts not only to be one of the finest rafting rivers in the country, but one of the best places for recreational fishing, as well.
Local excursions from the Diamante include “Villa 25 de Mayo”, which was the first settlement of the region. Walking the village’s old clay streets is like stepping into the past. “The San Rafael Fort”, located within the village was built in 1805 and declared a national monument in the 1940’s.
